Like everyone else, we use cookies for site analysis. These cookies are not a sort of biscuit, but little files we put on your computer that let us know if you're a new visitor to this site, or if you have been here before. These cookies also tell us roughly where you are from, how you found us and what you do when you're here. We use Adobe Business Catalyst to host this site, and it has a nifty little dashboard that does all of this analysis for us (which is great).

We only use first-party cookies and do not store any personal information. The site will work just as well if you have cookies (or the lights) turned off.

Presence Analytics

We use presence analytics to understand how each of our WiFi hotspots is used; for example, to understand how many people are connected to an individual Wireless Access Point and for how long. This is information is important to us, not least because it allows us to see how popular the WiFi service is and plan how we can improve it. To do this we collect the MAC address of the device you use to connect to the WiFi service and the MAC addresses of any device that passes by our access points. Think of it as another way of saying THANK YOU for all this lovely WiFi.

Ownership and Attribution

The WiFi service associated with Spark is provided by Derby City Council. You can get in touch with us by writing to the Digital Regeneration Team, Derby City Council, The Council House, Corporation Street, Derby DE1 2FS.

The WiFi service forms part of the "SuperConnected Derby" initiative and is part funded by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport's SuperConnected Cities Programme.

The "Captive Portal" - the magic that turns a humble WiFi access point into a WiFi hotspot - is provided and managed by the amazing people at PolkaSpots.

And Finally...

Finally (hurrah!), this site works best if you have an internet connection. It's responsive so doesn't care what sort of device you are using (which is rather cool).
